Forest Lakes, Virginia, is a vibrant planned community in northern Albemarle County, just outside Charlottesville. Developed in the late 1980s and 1990s, it quickly became one of the area’s most sought-after neighborhoods for its family-friendly feel and commuter convenience.

Forest Lakes began in 1989 as the largest planned unit development in Albemarle County. The community was built in two phases – Forest Lakes North and Forest Lakes South – wrapping around the older Hollymead subdivision. Over the years, Forest Lakes has maintained its reputation as a close-knit and stable neighborhood. Today it encompasses over 1,400 homes and remains a key part of the Charlottesville metro area’s northern corridor.
